Urban Centers Libraries: Urban Centers Libraries

For the summer:

For the summer semester, librarians will not be holding regular office hours at the Perth Amboy or New Brunswick centers. If you need help from a librarian, please reach out via phone, email, or online chat, or come in to the main campus library any time.

How to get help

Here are some of the ways that Urban Center students can get help with research:

  • Come to the main campus library! You can drop by any time you want, or make a one-on-one appointment with a librarian.
  • Come to your campus center during librarian office hours: Zoë is at New Brunswick on Thursdays from 10-6 and Gail is in Perth Amboy on Tuesdays from 10-6.
  • Call the main library reference desk to talk to a librarian at                (732) 906-4253.
  • Video Chat with a librarian from either the Perth Amboy Campus center or the New Brunswick Center. Share a screen with a librarian so we can walk you through whatever you need to do! Check out the box to the right for more info!
  • Email Gail at gmcdonald@middlesexcc.edu, or Zoë at                     zvybiral-bauske@middlesexcc.edu

Using library materials

Students at the campus centers can use databases, online reference sources, and ebooks just like any other students. Explore the rest of the library website to find these options, and ask us for help if you have any difficulty.

Both the Perth Amboy center and the New Brunswick center have small collections of useful books, including some textbooks, that can be used while you are on campus. These books can't be checked out or taken home.

If you do want to borrow a book, you're welcome to anything you need from the main campus library. Just give us a call at (732) 906-2561. Have your student ID card handy, as well as the name and call number of the book that you want. Use the box below to search for books!

Urban Center Faculty

Professors: We would love to provide the same hands-on help for your classes at the urban centers that we do for classes on the Edison Campus.

Here's some of what we can do:

  • Provide research instruction tailored to your class and designed to support your intended learning outcomes.
  • Collaborate with you on assignment design to maximize your students' information literacy skill development.
  • Create customized LibGuides on particular topics or for specific courses.
  • Teach students ethical information use, including acceptable citation practice and avoidance of plagiarism pitfalls.

Please consider scheduling an instruction session for your class so that we can help them to learn some valuable research skills.

Please use this form to schedule your instruction, or call (732)-906-4253 with any questions.
